VCL-SE IEEE-1588v2 PTP Protected Synchronous Packet-Optical Transport Interface • Carrier Grade Transmission Equipment over Optical / Wireless Links • Uses IEEE-1588v2 PTP synchronization technology • Provides time-of-day and frequency synchronization to a single central GPS source with 0.5 micro-second (< 500 nanosecond) accuracy. Uplink Network Interfaces (Any 4 user selectable ports) • 4x10/100/1000BaseT / 4x1000Base SX/LX (use any 4 interfaces) • Less than 4ms latency on all TDM (E1) over IP transmission links. User Side Interfaces • 8x10/100BaseT Ethernet Ports (4x10/100BaseT Ethernet Ports with PoE) • 8x 100BaseFX Optical Ethernet Ports (SFP) • 8x E1/T1 Interfaces • 1x IRIG-B outputs 2

Key Features • IEEE-1588v2 Synchronous Ethernet PTP Clock • 4 GigE Uplink Ports – Copper, Fiber, Copper + Fiber Gigabit Ethernet Ports. • 4 x 10/100/1000BaseT Copper Ports or 4 x 1000BaseFX Optical Fiber Ports (User selectable combination of only 4 Copper or Fiber Ports) • IEEE-1588 packet synchronization mechanism provides frequency and time-of-day synchronization for all points of the network to a common, single source. • Industry ‘benchmark’ in transmission latency – less than 4ms for E1 Channels and 6ms for T1 Channels in IEEE-1588v2 (PTP Synchronization) versions. • Fully managed Layer2 Switches which offer QoS by implementing IEEE 802.1p, 802.1Q VLANs and Differentiated Services (Diffserv) and packet priority classification protocols for traffic management and optimization. 3

Applications - Cellular / Mobile With IEEE 1588 PTP Synchronization • Reduce network latency to under 4ms for E1 Channels and 6ms for T1 Channels • Synchronize all cell sites to a common clock (time-of-day) and frequency • Frequency synchronize all BTSs and BSCs with the MSC using IEEE-1588 V2 phase synchronized frequency • Distribute IEEE-1588v2, Time-of-Day (ToD) across all nodes of the network with 500ns (0.5 micro-second) accuracy • Distribute 1 PPS and NMEA information across all nodes of the network.
