  2. History • Guillaume-Benjamin-Amand-Duchenne discovered muscular dystrophy in the 1860’s in France. He built a “portable electrical device” used to view muscles in response to health and disease. Commonly referred to as “Duchenne De Boulogne”

General Information • Symptoms • Fatigue • Learning disabilities • Muscle weakness • Walking ability may be lost by the age of 12, • Heart disease / breathing difficulties • Life Expectancy: 25 • No cure: treatments include: • Albuteral- commonly used to treat asthma • Fish oil • Green tea extracts • Vitamin E

  5. Facts Alfredo Ferrari had muscular dystrophy. He designed the 1.5 L DOHC V6 engine for F2 at the end of 1955 for his father, Enzo. He died June 30, 1956 at the age of 24. A man living in Toledo, OH is 40 years old and is living with muscular dystrophy. (2011)
