Background: Downsville CSD • Enrollment: • 300 in district PK-12 (282 in building) • Number of Buildings/Grade Level Configuration: • 1 building housing all grades PK-12 • Geographical size of the district: • 142 square miles • 6 Towns (Andes, Colchester, Hamden, Hancock, Tomkins, Walton) • 1 County (Delaware) • DCMO (Delaware-Chenango-Madison-Otsego) BOCES • Section IV Athletics • 2013-14 Budget: • $9,589,123

How Was the Idea of SharingBrought Forward? • The idea started with a conversation between DCS Interim Superintendent and RCS Superintendent and then moved on to the two Boards. • RCS & DCS shared all athletic programs in 2012-13. • I started at RCS in January of the 2009-2010 school year. During this same time period, DCS has had 6 different Superintendents. • DCS looked at sharing as a cost effective way to hire an experienced superintendent. • RCS looked at sharing as a cost effective way to hold on to a superintendent who has been recruited by several neighboring districts. • For RCS I looked at sharing as a way to help maintain our existing educational programs after a few very challenging budgets. • I look at this as a opportunity for both personal and professional growth.
