  1. Surrogacy: All You Need to Know About it Starting a family can be a wonderful time in one’s life. However, there are many who long to have children but in some situations, this is not possible due to certain medical complications, history of miscarriage, multiple failed IVF attempts, or the biological mother’s age. Over the years, the process of surrogacy in India has become a way for parents to have a child. This is an ideal solution of having a baby. What is Surrogacy? Surrogacy is a process of assisted reproduction that helps many couples to start families when they otherwise could not. An agreement is signed between a woman and a couple who wants to have a child. It means to rent a womb to carry and deliver the baby for someone else. There are two types of surrogacy - traditional and gestational. Why Opt for Surrogacy? Couples choose for surrogacy when conventional means of conceiving a child have failed, this also includes in-vitro fertilization, or it is dangerous for the couple to get pregnant and give birth. The medical conditions such as malformation or infection in the womb, absence or removal of the womb by hysterectomy, recurring miscarriages, and repeated failure of IVF, usually necessitate surrogacy. What are The Risks of Surrogacy? The risk associated with surrogacy depends on the kind of surrogacy undertaken. Generally, the risks associated are similar to those of IVF in India. How to Find a Surrogate? There are a number of ways to find a surrogate mother: Family or Friends– You can ask a relative or a friend to be a surrogate for you. This has its benefits and challenges but may help you feel better about the surrogacy process. This option is also less complicated legally.

  2. Surrogacy Agency– The agency not only helps find a good surrogate mother but will also take care of the legal and medical arrangements throughout the process. It also collects any fee that is passed between you and the surrogate, such as paying for her medical expenses. How to Choose a Surrogate? There are no set regulations as to who can be a surrogate, but according to medical practitioners, it is important to make sure that surrogate mother: Is healthy and ideally between 21 and 40 years old. Has given birth to one healthy baby before. Has passed a psychological screening by a mental health professional. Signs a contract about her role and responsibilities in the pregnancy.

  3. Surrogacy process makes it possible for parents to have a child that possesses genes from one or both parents, but it can also put in motion many emotional and psychological ups and downs for the future parents. In addition, even if both parents are ready to use a surrogate mother, there are instances where it may be difficult to convince family members and friends that this is the right choice. There is still some debate about using a surrogate mother to have a baby. The legal process is also tricky because it varies. Even so, whether it’s because of fertility problems or other reasons, surrogacy is an option for you and your partner. Readers!
