Madison Area Service Club Council Mission • To provide an open forum for Greater Madison Area Service Club members to interact, encourage and celebrate volunteerism through various activities • Honor someone from the community who has given their time, talent and treasures for the betterment of the community – Ruth Gordon Award & Community Youth Volunteer Award

  3. What happened to the Olympics? • Overall participation was down year after year • Lack of volunteers to host the event • Economic downturn and the inability to take a full day off work • You spoke, we listened! • After extensive surveying of clubs and members and more than a year of meetings, we made the decision to no longer continue the Olympics in it’s traditional format

  4. Objectives of the Madison Area Service Club Appreciation Day • Honor people in the community for their work through volunteering • Promote networking and socializing among clubs and non-service club members • Introduce the service club concept to non-members • Create a purposeful event from which all clubs can benefit • Celebrate volunteerism and have fun!!!

NoerTurfgrass Research Facility • Cribbage • Euchre • Texas Hold ‘Em • Volunteer Celebration 2:00pm – 5:00pm • Ten Pin Alley – 6285 Nesbitt Road, Fitchburg

  7. Event Details • 9-Hole Golf Tournament • Cost is $30 per player • Pleasant View Golf Course in Middleton • Low gross and low net will be recognized for both men and women • Tee off at 2:30pm • Bowling • $8 for 3 games and shoe rental • Begin at 2:30pm and off the lanes by 5:00pm • All other events = FREE! FOR ALL EVENTS: • Sign up individually to meet new people OR • Sign up as a team to play with old friends

Madison Area Service Clubs Appreciation DayWednesday, October 10, 2012 • Volunteer Happy Hour • Ten Pin Alley • 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. • Meet & Greet • Current service club members and non-members celebrate and encourage volunteerism • Learn about others’ clubs and volunteer projects • Introduce non-members to service club concept

Ruth Gordon Award • To honor a current or past individual member (living or deceased) of a service club who, over a period of time, has exemplified the concept of volunteer service for the betterment of the community, either individually or through their service club. • Why we remember and honor Ruth Gordon… • Ruth Gordon was an active member of Altrusa, an international organization specializing in community needs, as well as literacy, the environment and AIDS/HIV. Ms. Gordon was a lively, caring and concerned member of our community until winter December 1985 when a snowmobile accident cut her life short at age 64. • Nomination form at www.madisonserviceclubs.org

Community Youth Volunteer Award • This award is presented to a person in the Greater Madison area who, over the years, has given freely of his/her time to support youth. • Criteria for consideration should include: • A person who lives in the Greater Madison Area • What has the person contributed and/or given back to the community • What activities involving youth has the person been associated with and what role did the person undertake with respect to these activities • What accomplishments were achieved • What time did the individual contribute • What was the impact of the Nominee’s activities on youth • Nomination form at www.madisonserviceclubs.org
