  2. THE CONTEXT • OSIRIS: Condition Monitoring Service • Chemical plant (SOLVAY Roussillon) • Raw material for cigaret filters • Interested in wireless capabilities: • a first project as a showroom for the whole plant • Test on machines monitored offline for data comparison

  4. DEMAND KEY POINTS • Critical machines +/- 50g • Low frequency analysis capabilities • ATEX Zone 2 • Sensors installed under a cover: need for reliable communication • Capabilities to easily and quickly change sensors from one machine to its spare

  6. OUR SOLUTION • Gateway positioned in the middle of the workshop with omnidirectionnal antenna • Total of 12 tri axial sensors installed • Good communication with all sensors, including those under the cover of the wringer

Obstacles • Emerson wireless network already onsite but lot of troubles at Wireless network connection to the facility network: Strong resistance from IT guy to new wireless solutions!! • ACOEM strength: • Very opened and clear talk with IT crew on ISA100.11a at a pre sales step. • Capabilities to work on a temporary architecture without connection to the facility network for fast deployment with remote 3G access to the XPR server

CONCLUSION & KEY SUCCESS FACTORS (1/2) • The solution: • Ease of installation • mounting / unmounting for maintenance operation • All installation tests performed successfully < 1 day with 3 different gateways location, antenna direction… • Easily expandable solution • Showroom for the chemical whole plant • Other machines to monitor in the same workshop in a first step • Other workshops and production lines to monitor • Communication capabilities • Triaxial sensor + T° with capabilities to communicate parameters to the control room by OPC through XPR • SUPERVISION for the access by the end customer to the condition monitoring information • Reliable wireless protocol: even under the cover the signal is transmitted!
