  1. Kick-off meeting Nice 10 – 13/06/2008 Theme 3 - Biogeochemical Impacts and Feedbacks - M. Gehlen Laboratoire des Sciences du Climat et de L'Environnement (LSCE) UMR CEA-CNRS-UVSQ CEN de Saclay / L'Orme des Merisiers, Bât.712 F-91191 Gif-sur-Yvette Cedex marion.gehlen@lsce.ipsl.fr

  2. Kick-off meeting Nice 10 – 13/06/2008 • Overarching question: • To what extent will ocean acidification alter ocean carbonate chemistry, biogeochemistry, and marine ecosystems over the next 200 years, and how will that feed back on climate change? Tools: • models: coastal-, basin- to global scale, and Earth system Appraoches: • model development: pH sensitive process descriptions (link to theme 2) • assessment of model skills: comparison to data (link to activities of theme 1); between models • sensitivity studies • model simulations: pre-industrial period + future (C-emission pathways)

  3. Assessment & Earth System feedbacks From organisms and processes to ecosystems Future changes in ocean carbonate chemistry Biogeochemical impacts

  4. Kick-off meeting Nice 10 – 13/06/2008 WP 9: From process studies to ecosystem models Lead: A. Oschlies (IFM-GEOMAR) WP 10: Future changes in ocean carbonate chemistry Lead: F. Joos (Universität Bern) WP 11: Biogeochemical impacts Lead: M. Gehlen (LSCE) WP 12: Assessment of Earth System feedbacks Lead: F. Joos (Universität Bern)
