  22. Feeding The manual motor starter can be fed at the top or bottom supplyterminals without any reduction of the rated values Back-up fuses are only necessary if there ispossibility of ashort-circuit current higher than thevalues indicated on theprevious chart fortheultimate short-circuit breaking capacity ofthemanual motor starter at the installation point of the device

  23. Motor Protection The current of the motor to be protected is set on the setting scale The short-circuit release is set at the factory to a value equivalentto 13 times the rated current of the manual motor starter Manual motor starters with thermal overload release are designed in accordance with release class 10 All the Surion line is available with magnetic only protection forstarter combinations (contactor + overload relay) In case of overload the relay releases the contactor and the MMSremains closed

  24. Tripping Characteristics GPS1 Thermal release trip current Curve apply for cold state, at operatingtemperature the tripping time for overload release are reduced of 25% For single phase and DC loads the three phases must beconnected in series The magnetic release are based on the rated current In which is the max. value of the setting range of the MMS If the current is set to a lower value, the tripping currentis increased by a corresponding factor The short-circuit release is set at the factory to a value equivalent to 13 times the rated current of the manual motor starter

  25. Tripping Characteristics GPS2 Thermal release trip current Curve apply for cold state, at operating temperature the tripping time for overload release are reduced +/-25% For single phase and DC loads the three phases must be connected in series The magnetic release are based on the rated current In which is the max. value of the setting range of the MMS If the current is set to a lower value, the tripping current is increased by a corresponding factor The short-circuit release is set at the factory to a value equivalent to 13 times the rated current of the manual motor starter

  45. Fuseless Starters Features Fuseless starter is the combination of 1 MMS and one or two (reverser) contactors connected each other with a link module and assembly in a base plate or busbar adapter MMS is used to provide protection against the load, usually a motor, from overloads and short-circuits, then fuses or limiters should be avoid. The contactor is used for switching task mainly done in a remote distance Power with 45mm width device is up to 11kW@400V and with 55mm width device is up to 30kW@400V Lateral and front mounting auxiliary blocks can be used with fuseless starter Base plates and busbar adapter can also be used with theMMS alone Direct A1-A2 terminal coil accessibility Coordination type 1 and 2 @ 400/415, 500 V and 690 V

  46. Fuseless Starters Main accessories Link modules :provide mechanical and electrical connection betweenMMS and contactor Base plates :base support used to fix the MMS and contactor Busbar adapter :base support which is capable to be fitted directlyonto a busbar, with 40 and 60mm centre line spacing(thickness 5 to 10mm) and just with one operation, mechanical“click on” and electrical connections are done

  47. Fuseless Starters Combination structure (BS: Base Plate, BA: Busbar Adapter, W/O:Without) (*) : mandatory to use BP

  48. Fuseless Starters : components As a support is used a Base Plate (BP) orBusbar Adapter (BA) If MC contactors series are used BP is not required All Manual Motor Starters are designed to be usedas fuseless starters A link between the MMS and thecontactor is mandatory to securemechanical / electrical connection Contactors from MC series up to CL07 can be used. Also is possible a reverse assembly using a wiringkit between contactors Contactor cover

  49. Fuseless Starters : mounting instruction MMS should be mounted on a BP with a 35mm DIN railor on a BA with 35mm DIN rail or screws A link is screwed at the MMS Contactors should be rotated before the assembly to the link Fit the contactor cover The contactor is mounted to both the link and the BP or BA The contactor should be screwed to both the link andthe BP or BA
