Aristotele:la tragedia spingeva gli spettatori ad una purificazione morale. OGGI teoria crociana: la catarsi ha un valore puramente estetico,è la poesia che libera dalle passioni,il momento supremo dell'intuizione poetica. COS'E' LA CATARSI?

  3. ANTICAMENTE In una società più violenta della nostra, assassini e crudeltàavvengono fuori scena. Un personaggio per tutti: Medea, la maga che uccide i suoi figli con le proprie mani. LA PURIFICAZIONE ATTRAVERSO LA PAURA

OGGI In una società che ha metabolizzato una violenza che difficilmente sperimenta direttamente, tutto accade in scena (ad es., film horror) Due casi interessanti: • Scream qui uno psicopatico omicida mascherato,prima di uccidere le sue vittime,agisce sulle loro paure e sulla loro cultura horror • The Blair Witch Project ripresa di paure ataviche provocate dalla ‘violenza’ dell’Ignoto
