FOLLOW THE HEIRS(to follow the money) • In 2007 VG and E24 conducted a data-intensive and extensive documentation of the close links between the heirs to the 400 largest fortunes in Norway. • The computer-assisted research formed the basis for a series of articles uncovering close connections within a self-preserving elite. • The underlying network database was presented to the readers to prove the validity of the findings. • The database was made clickable and interactive.

  5. We downloaded information about all Norwegian movies made since 1995. • 114 movies, 601 actors/actresses, 77 instructors.

  6. More members of Parliament could have received improper pension. But who? They should meet following criteria: • Member of Parliament at least 12 years. • Younger than 65 when they started receiving pension. • The sum of age and number of years as a member > 75. Data downloaded from www.stortinget.no of all members from 1977 – 2008 Data cleaning in Excel. Searching in Access. But: Everything had to be checked manually using classic journalism: Journalists called everybody on the list asking for if they had received pension.
