  3. The Story Begins • Harry lives with the Dursleys • Owls bring letters • Hagrid rescues Harry • Harry boards the Hogwarts Express

  4. The Story Builds • Hary befriends Hermione and Ron • Rescues Hermione from troll • Visits Hagrid’s hut routinely and his baby dragon • Harry finds the mirror of Erised • Harry plays Quiditch

  5. Problem Harry and his friends want to know what is being guarded by the three-headed dog and who is trying to steal it.

  6. Solution Harry and his friends get by the dog and then have to play a wizard’s chess match. Ron is hurt and Harry goes on alone. He meets Professor Quirrell who wants the guarded sorcerer stone to give to the evil Lord Voldemort, the murderer of Harry’s family. Harry battles the evil adversaries and Harry uses the image in the mirror to possess the stone. He defeats Professor Quirrell. Lord Voldemort is left without a body and disappears.

  7. The End • Harry is in hospital • Alvus Dumbledore visits Harry and relates how Harry was rescued. • Gryffindor beats Slytherin out of first place for the house cup.

  9. Impact on Me Before this book, I had not ever read a story about wizards. I did not think I would like that kind of story, but I was wrong. I learned about friendship and loyalty like between Harry and his friends and with Hagrid, and loyalty between Hagrid and Dumbledor.
