  15. PERFORMANCE: RECORDED CRIME There was a 29.9%reduction in the 12 month rolling crime figure between January 2007 and September 2012. This equates to 36,417 fewer victims.

  16. PERFORMANCE: DETECTION RATE There was a 7.5%increase in the 12 month sanction detection rate between January 2007 and September 2012, rising from 24.8% to 32.3%.

  17. PERFORMANCE: RECORDED VIOLENT CRIME There was a 17.7% reduction in the recorded violent crime figures between January 2007 and September 2012. This equates to 3,552 fewer victims.

  18. PERFORMANCE: VIOLENT CRIME POSITIVE OUTCOME RATE There has been a 4.4% increase in the 12 month sanction detection rate between January 2007 and September 2012, rising from 53.6% to 58.1%.

AUTOMATED FACIAL RECOGNITION - AFR The New Mobile App • June 2019 will see South Wales Police officers able to identify wanted individuals in real time through a new facial recognition app on their mobile phones • It will enable officers to confirm the identity of a wanted suspect almost instantaneously even if that suspect provides false or misleading details, thus securing their quick arrest • Officers will be able to access 480,000 custody images and the associated actionable data from Niche, allowing to them to identify whether the person stopped is, or is not, the person of interest, without having to return to a police station.
