Perbadanan Tabung Amanah Islam Brunei (TAIB) was established under Perbadanan Tabung Amanah Islam Brunei Cap 163. • TAIB was officially launched by His Majesty Sultan HajiHassanalBolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaullah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adulKhairiWaddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Negara Brunei Darussalam, on the 29th September 1991. • The first Financial Institution that conducted all its activities in accordance with Islamic faith.

  4. Corporate Structure Since its establishment TAIB has two subsidiary companies which are: • Insurans Islam TAIB SendirianBerhad (Takaful/Insurance) • Darussalam Holdings SendirianBerhad (Haj/Umrah Services, Travel Agent. where both of which TAIB has a 100% shareholding.

  6. Advantages (Benefits) • TAIB offers loan facilities to its employees: eg. car loan • TAIB offer free insurance • The employees get allowance • Gain extra wages for work overtime • TAIB has career development policy such as promotion opportunity

Disadvantages of working at rival’s organization • May not have the same benefits as TAIB • Work long hours without getting paid for overtime or only getting low overtime rate • Does not have clear policy on staff career development – not sure when you would be promoted even if you work hard and performing • Less emphasis on staff training and development – may be due to lack of fund

  8. Open-plan office layout(advantages) • Easy to communicate with others • Easier for managers to supervise staff • Can help and teach each other • Work flow more smoother • Easier management • Overhearing • Space saving

  9. Handling difficult callers • Listen to the caller’s concern. • Ask specifics and details of the complaints • Avoid becoming emotionally invested. • Summarize the conversation regularly. • Apologize to the caller in an appropriate sincere manner.

Handling Incoming and outgoing mail and dealing with packages • Have the manager to sign receipt upon receiving mail/packages, open the mail/packages and get someone to witness when you open the mail/packages • All the letters received are stamped to show the date of receipt, for legal reasons, proof that letter arrived at the office. It may go to several people so letter may have to be returned • Making follow-up of letters to ensure that the mail are replied • A letter which states that a cheque is enclosed but it is not with the letter

  11. Managing work • Be organized • Split large tasks into more manageable tasks. • Taking responsibility for improving work efficiency • Do research • Have better communication skills to ease and improve relationships with management and coworkers. • Focuses your mind on important objectives

  12. Conclusion In conclusion we believe working in TAIB offer a better long term job prospect. We feel better because it’s a very well organize organization. For example, they have a procedure how to manage customer complaints.
