Community partnerships – churches & schools Minimum mentor commitment – 1 year National training, resourcing, support. One child, one hour, one church, one school

Respecting secular education • KIDS HOPE AUS is NOT a religious program. • Mentors will not use the mentoring hour for religious purposes. • Mentors focus on being a reliable, faithful friend. • Mentors receive clear training about respecting the secular nature of education. • Parents can receive a copy of the KIDS HOPE AUS Code of Conduct. Where does mentoring take place? • Teachers identify an appropriate mentoring space to allow for one-to-one mentoring to take place. • Always within line of site of school personnel • Usually not classroom based • Mentors, with permission, may need to use library, art room, computer lab, cooking facilities etc. One child, one hour, one church, one school
