  1. Increasing Our Children’s Faith “For I am mindful of the sincere faith within you, which first dwelt in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice, and I am sure that it is in you as well” (2 Tim. 1:5).

  2. This Subject Is Of Vital Importance • We usually realize it years after we should. • When we begin to make excuses for our children’s bad behavior. • It’s not legal problems we’re talking about, but spiritual. • Their faith begins generations before they do. • So, how do we help them?

  3. Increase Your Own Faith • 2 Tim. 1:5 • Faith isn’t just believing in Jesus. It’s acting on your faith. • Set the correct example. • Your devotion to the church. The Bible. • What have you done lately for the Lord. Do your kids talk with you about it.

  4. Effective, Early Training • Eph. 6:4. Beulah Bible class (effective?) • Discipline – Prov. 13:24; 19:18; 22:6 • Reverence during worship – Acts 10:33; John 4:24 • Seek first the kingdom – Matt. 6:33; 22:37 • Hate worldliness

  5. Guide Them Thru the Teen Years • Restraint – even though they will resist. The consequences of “non interference” – I Sam. 3:4 • Guide them in the decision making process. • Certain dangerous areas – reading material, friends (I Cor. 15:33), dress (I Tim. 2:9), recreation activities (Prov. 4:23-27).

  6. Maintain Strong Family Ties • The family is a unit, not an individual. Father or mother or child. • Work and play together. • Fight with each other, and for each other. • Sacrifice for each other. • Don’t ever stop.

  7. Prayer • If we succeed, it won’t be because we’re so great, but because God is. • Ask His help. • Pressure will come from many sources. Only God understands our individuality and hearts.
