PrishtinaInternational Summer University • Prishtina International Summer University (PISU) provides a unique opportunity for participating students to expand their knowledge and skills in different fields of study. • The first International Summer University was organized in summer 2001. The first edition of Prishtina Summer University had a great success as it established international contacts and provided the infrastructure for the future editions of PISU. Status of PhD studies at UP • During 2010 the UP was challenged to reform doctoral studies in order to adapt to the European changes on third cycle. • After exploring organization of doctoral studies at different European institutions and having into considerations local conditions, human resources and research infrastructure, the UP has chosen to follow up University of Zagreb- Croatia as model. • Structure and organization of doctoral studies are defined at the institutional level and all faculties have to follow it. (…recommendations to the Senate of UP for changes!) • The regulation provides a common framework, code and rules for whole university, including detailed rules on recruitment of students, supervision, exams, evaluation and defense of thesis. • Doctoral school is led by Central Committee for Doctoral Studies that is chaired by Rector and Vice-Rector, and has representatives of main study fields (senior professors). • Structure of doctoral study programs is divided in two parts: training 1/3 and research 2/3 both reflected on ECTS. UP is the only HE Institution that is accredited for PhD studies in Kosova University of Prishtina "Hasan Prishtina"

Quality assurance system • Regulation on doctoral studies at UP including progress forms, procedures are in the revision • Modalities of doctoral studiesquality assurance which includes student and teacher mobilities need to be addressed • Quality assurance mechanisms are regulated through Publishing of article, monitoring of the process • Entry Requirements (PhD regulation: Completion of the scientific master studies minimum 120 ECTS, speak and write fluent English and/or German, Scientific publications, priority would be the female candidate, etc).
