  13. Denounce (v.)– to speak out against, to condemn • The administration denounced smoking on school grounds.

  14. Embellish (v.)– to add details, to exaggerate • To compete in the tough job market,the applicant embellished his qualifications on his resume.

  15. Obscure (adj.)– unclear, clouded,hard to understand • The teacher’s obscure directions made it difficult for the students to complete the assignment.

  16. Revere (v.)– to worship, to honor • Many people tend to revere nice cars, but Mr. Moring likes Star Wars.

  17. Stagnant (adj.)– not moving • The stagnant pond water that Luke jumped in was unpleasant and full of algae. R2-D2 didn’t like it either.
