  1. About Choosing The Best People For The Job Finding work as a freelancer may be intimidating for many. Think of those working in the entertainment industry, for example. Actors, dancers, extras in film and TV, models – all of them have to rely on certain talents and abilities, and often a certain look that production teams are looking for. Models, for example, can earn really good money, travel to many exotic destinations and enjoy free time more than many others. Of course this refers to the successful ones that have worked in the industry for a good period of time, have become known and are often offered the best jobs. Some models do really well for a number of years then retire and pursue another profession. Also, not everybody wants to do full- time modelling and will therefore offer their services at those times that it suits them. For example, a mother with children many not be available all the time, or some models study at university or college and need more free time than others. Whatever you circumstances, there opportunities to do modelling work; however, production companies and photographers need to be aware of you, your age, your look and your availability for specific work such as, say, catalogue. are many Others may be good for, or prefer, runway modelling. A lot has to do with personal preference and the profile of the model too as well as the availability of work. But, the importance of being on the books of a great talent manager can never be denied or stressed too much. This agency knows photographers and production companies, and they know what these are looking for in terms of the look they need – maybe a baby boy, a teenage girl or a well-built young man, or a senior person. Models who work without agents often find themselves at a great disadvantage, for very obvious reasons. Photographers and producers are in touch with good agencies, they will not easily put an ad in the local paper looking for models. They know that agencies have access to those people they want to work with. This really applies to all categories right from commercial and high fashion models to plus size ladies and gents, or for that matter any look that they need for their campaign. Just as much as the model is looking for work, the photographer and their teams are under pressure to find the best models for the job, and they need to plan ahead by making sure they are in touch with a good talent manager or agency that can supply the services of those models they may be looking for.

  2. If they are dealing with good, reputable agency that offers the services of a great selection of models and looks, they will indeed be in the best position to find the one whose services they are interested in. Models should also know that they are not to waste time, take instruction and arrive at their shoot wearing the outfit that is just right for the shoot, that their makeup is natural and never overdone, that you are able to communicate well at the first audition. Remember, the one whose services you employ as photographer will have to take direction, and for the model it is equally important to know that the photographer has a job to do and that he/she can’t tolerate huge egos. It is a give-and-take situation for all. Punctuality too, is important. Do not be late for castings and auditions. No director or photographer wants to deal with an unreliable model; they may therefore not consider you, if you do not stick to timelines, for example. The model that has a good agency to represent her/him undoubtedly stands a much greater chance than unrepresented models to find work. Do some research. There are some great agencies around.
