STAR TAP ITNRouter and Routing Policy • STAR TAP ITN is AUP Free • Accepts routes & traffic from any participating National Research Network (NRN) (does not include commercial/commodity traffic & routes) • Configured to avoid accidental use of ST ITN for intra-continental/intra-regional routing (e.g. Singaren <–> APAN via ST ITN) • Networks may opt out of exchanging routes with subset of participants (has not been requested to date but is an option)

SUMMARY • Problem: • optimizing International Connectivity to North American National Research Networks • not all peering points offer Layer 2 bilateral peering solutions from a single vendor • ensuring International Networks get full connectivity • Solution: • extend the STAR TAP International Transit Network to other geographic locations
