  3. RxCOTS: What is it? • The pharmacy software that will be replacing CHCS pharmacy • Awarded 22 Oct 2004, GE (Centricity) • Has been around for 30 years • KLAS best of breed 2004,2005, and 2006 • In 150 hospitals in North America

Advancements • Global Patient Record • Standardized across service and environment • Adaptable based on preferences • Minimal down time • Adapts to civilian laws proactively • All data in one system • Integration with automation including some inpatient • Enhanced Formulary Management • Enhanced Reporting Capabilities • Enhanced Clinical Screening • But that’s pharmacy stuff………

EDD (Enterprise Drug Database) • Single drug database for enterprise • NDC based (One drug file per NDC) • ALL files built by POC team • Pulled down to MTF and dispensing site • Benefits • Uniform data/policies • Increased data availability/ integrity • Creating uniform compounding items • Tri-Service Compounding Team

Perpetual Inventory • Perpetual Inventory captured at time of order delivery • DMLSS Interface • Decremented when filled • Includes Compound items (components) • Incremented back if Return To Stock • Automatic suggested orders based on your predefined desired stock levels (par levels) • Accurate prices

  7. Billing • NCPDP 5.1 message • We use this for retail and mail order now • Centricity (and most others) bill when the prescription is presented • At the MTF we are going to fill it either way • Bill at dispense (no reversals)

  9. Take Home Points • All drug files will be shared throughout the enterprise • All NDC numbers will be accurate • All prices will be accurate • NCPDP 5.1 message sent at dispense • No reversals needed
