  1. Do Now (in your journal): How would you feel if you were suddenly forced to be separated from your parent/guardian in a place that was unfamiliar to you? How would you react in this situation?

  2. 1. Introduce Project Overview: The Search for Meaning2. What does a good witness know and do?

  3. View the beginning of “Eyes of the Holocaust” (dir. Janos Szasz)As you view “Eyes of the Holocaust” write in your scrapbook what you are witnessing…thoughts, reactions, facts, questions, etc…

  4. Draw an image in your scrapbook that captures the heart or essence of what you have ‘witnessed’ so far through reading Night and viewing “Eyes of the Holocaust”

  5. HOMEWORK DUE NEXT CLASS:1. Finish reading pages 27-middle of 36 of Night2. Write 2 quote responses in your journal (2 paragraphs for each response!)3. Respond to the following Questions (2 pages):What would your first instinct be if you saw the police beating your parent/guardian? Would you follow that instinct? Why or why not? Imagine that you could do nothing about the situation. How would witnessing this event change your relationship with your parent/guardian?
