  6. The JV Conference Meet This meet rotated through the Bay Conference Schools just like the Varsity Conference Meet. It became a hassle for several of the schools and it was felt that a permanent site should be found. Shawano agreed to be the permanent host for the meet. This meet has only been cancelled once in all the years it has been held.

The 14 swimming families were: Buchert: Sara & Elizabeth Carleton: Megan & Courtney Donahoo: Bristol & Caitlin Felts: Tami, Tiffany, & Tia Hoffman: Amanda & Abbey Hoffman: Elizabeth & Christine Kuhn: Karissa & Kelsie Leonard: Lisa & Heidi Pluger: Kristen & Lindsey Spreeman: Stephanie & Aleshia Teetzen: Emily & Elizabeth Tuma: Katie & Krissy Uhler: Mary & Sarah Villez: Maggie & Andy

  10. Four names currently can be found on the front of the parka: Felts (Tami Felts – original owner) Labby (Kira Labby) Timm (Emily Timm) Anker (Alyssa Anker)

  11. Our wonderful announcer is DAN LABBY. He started when Kira was swimming for the team and has continued even after her graduation. His signature clothing style is his brightly colored Hawaiian shirts. At one meet he came wearing a plain shirt and one of the coaches asked why he wasn’t working the meet. When we told them he was at the table, he argued that we were wrong. At the break Dan went and changed his shirt and the coach was excited that Dan had finally come to the meet!!

  12. The word “Swimming” was misspelled on the back of the shirt. It was spelled “Swimning”. The shirts were worn by swimmers and coaches for several days before someone noticed the mistake. The shirts were replaced by the company. Had a good laugh over this one. (Coach Chuck and Coach Judy each have one if you would like to see it.)

  13. Before the 2003 Varsity Bay Conference Meet it was determined by the Bay Conference coaches that they wanted to acknowledge a senior swimmer. At that meet each coach nominated one swimmer to be considered and the coaches voted. The first Senior Bay Conference Swimmer of the Year was Shawano Swimmer....... Tia Felts
