  6. Important place … Tikal A Mayan city that flourished around 700 AD in modern-day Guatemala, Tikal is best known for its towering Temple of the Two-Headed Snake.

  7. Important place… The Mothers Monument Monument finished on May of 1966 by a Spanish sculptor, José Nicolás. It is memorial for all the Guatemalan mothers that take care of their children as the future of the society.

  8. Important place…San Andres Xecul Church A small village in the Western Highlands of Guatemala, San Andrés Xecul is home to a brightly-painted Catholic church adorned with a fascinating array of Mayan, Christian and agricultural images.

  15. What it means the blue stripes represent the fact that Guatemala is located between 2 oceans. The white in the middle holds Guatemalas coat of arms.

  17. HolidaysAll religious holidays are celebrated in Guatemala including Christmas, Easter and All Saints' Day. Other holidays are New Year's Day - 1 January, Labour Day - 1 May, Independence Day - 15 September (1821) and Revolution Day - 20 October.

  19. Art • Guatemala is particularly well known for weaving with designs dating back many centuries. • Other crafts are ceramics and jewelry

  20. Music • . Music is important in Guatemalan culture. Most towns have a marimba band (the marimba is an instrument similar to a xylophone). Other traditional instruments are drums and flutes. Stringed instruments, such as guitars, were introduced by the Spanish.

  22. foods • Meat, such as chicken, is served with rice and vegetables. Beans, carrots, cassava, onions, plantains, peppers and tomatoes are grown. • Desserts include sweet pastries and custards. Tropical fruits are bananas, mangoes, papayas and pineapples. • Fruit juices and coffee are produced in Guatemala.
