  7. The Effective Educator • Has positive expectations for student success • Is an extremely good classroom manager • Knows how to design lessons for student mastery

  8. Vision • You must know for which harbor you are headed if you are to catch the right wind to take you there.

  9. Vision • You must believe that all students can achieve your vision - not just the smart, cute, funny, pleasant, or popular ones . . .

  10. Vision • If you are to get where you are going, you have to know where you are. • Where are you now? • What do you want in the future and where do you want to be? • How will you know when you get there?

  11. What is the “Ideal Teacher”? • List the characteristics of an ideal teacher • Share your list with your group members • With your group, list your top 10 characteristics of the “Ideal Teacher” • Share your list with the class

  12. Teacher Leader Interview Look at the CHAMPS section of questions for your interview. • What do you want your students to be able to know and do at the end of the year that they may not be able to do now?

Questions Continued • What knowledge, processes, attitudes, behaviors, or traits do you hope to instill in your students? • What do you want your students to remember about their year with you? • What competencies do your colleagues feel students need to possess leaving your class to be successful at the next level?
