  34. Collaboration is key! Endowment (WEA) They only sold four sponsorships for the holes, but the entire WEA office came to play the golf course. Restructured Library’s organization chart One big team (finally) – Library Operations Internal collaboration that allows us to be truly user-centered Revived Liaison Program Build on the strengths of our librarians Re-established positive contact with faculty Create a coffee shop–like environment Coffee Kiosk – working with Dining Services Redesigned the layout of our main floor – reduced reference by 80% New furniture, new colors, new atmosphere

  35. Collaboration is key! Host undergraduate research forums Apeiron and Day of Transformation Brings faculty, students and their families into the library Monday’s @ the Mabee Honors Program & Leadership Institute Lunch – yes, food in the library Academic & life skills discussion Campus tutoring in the library Math, English, German, Composition, History, Psychology, etc. Become an art gallery Host faculty and student art projects – paintings to sculptures

  37. Take giant leaps! Information Literacy & the Freshman Year Experience Center for Undergraduate Studies and Programs (CUSP) – IS 100 Library Research Strategies – IS 170 Information & computer literacy are now official University learning outcomes! Fall/09 -- Librarians will be teaching IS 170 to conditional admission students in conjunction with IS 100 Fall/10 -- Librarians will be the primary coordinators and lead instructors for our new Freshman Year Experience for all first-time Freshmen. We’ll be working with a faculty member, an advisor, and a student mentor.

  38. Alan’s Advice? Get in bed with Endowment Become a reliable partner committed to fundraising in innovative ways Not only has the Endowment Assn assigned a specific person to do nothing but Library fundraising, but that person is to be located IN the Library. Build a golf course!! It’s OK to have fun as you engage the campus. Be creative, take risks, and think outside the box

  39. Questions? Thank you very much!
