CV256 Soil Mechanics (1) Course Lecturer:   Prof.Dr. Hassan AbdEllatif Course Assistant: Eng: Shimaa Course Objectives: The objective of this course is to enable students to: Understand Weight-volume relationships and physical properties of soil. Test the soil properties and know Soil classification. Show how to make soil Compaction and understand soil improvement. Show how to calculate and design different types of foundations Show how to calculate lateral earth pressure and slope stability. Weight-volume relationships. Physical properties of soil. Soil classification. Compaction and the replacement of soils .Shear strength. Types of foundations. Shallow foundations. Deep foundations. Introduction to lateral earth pressure and slope stability.

Course Description: After completing this course, students will be able i) Calculate Weight-volume relationships and physical properties of soil.ii) Have experience with Soil classification.iii) Determine Bearing capacity of foundations.iv) Calculate lateral earth pressure and design different types of foundation..
