  2. National park “Central Balkan” in the Middle Stara planina (Balkan). It is announced as a National park in 1992. It has an area of 71 669,5 ha. On its territory there are 9 reserves. “Central Balkan has a world role in keeping the biological diversity.

  3. National park “Pirin”, in Pirin mountain. It is announced as a National park in 1992 with an area of 40 332,4 ha. On its territory there are 2 reserves

  4. National park “Rilla” in Rilla. It is announced as a National park in 1992. It has an area of 81 046 ha. On its territory there are 4 reserves .

  5. Natural park “Shomensko plateau”. It is announced as a Natural park in 1980. It has an area of 3930 ha. On its territory there is 1 reserve

  6. Natural park “Vitosha”. It is announced as a Natural park in 1934. It has an area of 26 606 ha. On its territory there are 2 reserves

  7. Natural park “Persinna” in Svishtovsko-Belenskata gorge includes also the Bulgarian islands in htat part of Danube. It is announced as a Natural park in 2000. It has an area of 21 762,2 ha. On its territory there are 2 reserves: “Persinski blata(swamps)” (It is announced as a reserve in 1981. It has an area of 385,2 ha.) and “Kitka” (bunch) (It is announced as a reserve in 1981. It has an area of 25,4 ha.)

  8. Natural park “Zlatni piasatzi” (“Golden sands”) in East Stara planina (Balkan). It is announced as a Natural park in 1943. It has an area of 1320,7 ha. On its territory there are Aladja monastery and the resort Zlatni piasatzi (Golden sands)

  9. Natural park “Vratchanski Balkan” in Vratchanska mountain. It is announced as a Natural park in 1988. It has an area of 26 771,6 ha. On its territory there is 1 reserve

  10. Natural park “Rila monastery” in Rilla. It is announced as a Natural park in 2000. It has an area of 27 370,7 ha. On its territory there are reserves “Rilla monastery forest” and Rilla monastery

  11. Natural park “Russenski Lom” in the valley of the Russenski Lom river. It is announced as a Natural park in 1970. It has an area of 3259,8 ha. On its territory there are cliff churches around the village Ivanovo

  12. Natural park “Sinite kamuny”(“Blue stones”) in Sinite kamuny. . It is announced as a Natural park in 1980. It has an area of 6684,5 ha. On its territory there is 1 reserve

  13. Natural park “Strandja” in Strandja mountain. It is announced as a National park in 1995. It has an area of 116 136,2 ha – the largest protected territory in Bulgaria. On its territory there are 5 reserves.

More interesting is the fauna, only vertebrates are over 300 species.Among the invertebrates deserve particular attention Carpathian scorpion and skolopendrata.Among the insects can be found a small mantis, several rare and endangered beetles, such as deer stag, beetle - rhinoceros, oak sechko of butterflies - swallowtail, Crescent, skull, small black Apollo and others.In the river can be seen 22 species of fish, crabs, snails and river mussels.

  17. A total of 10 amphibian species (including 5 protected) and 19 species of reptiles inhabit the valley. Of particular value are zoogeographical night lizard - the sole representative of geckos at home and koravetsat or bezkrakiyat lizard. There are two types of tortoises, spotted snake and the snake-medyankata, viper.The park is a real bird paradise. There are many birds that are endangered throughout Europe, so Lomovete has been declared as Important Bird Area.

Numerous rock cavities, ledges, balconies, cavernous halls and grounds create ideal conditions for birds, nesting on rocks as Golden Eagle, Egyptian Vulture, Long-legged Buzzard, Ruddy Shelduck, Saker, plain and steppe kestrel, rock dove, owl, belograd Swift, and other . Of all recorded so far in the valley of Lomovete 172 bird species are protected.The combination of rocks, water, forest, grassland create conditions for the occupation of many birds such as hawks, Pern, Tawny Owl, long-eared owl, herons.

  19. Almost all types of woodpeckers woods resound. From over 190 identified species of birds the world meet in the park, 110 species nest here. The rest are birds of passage, winter visitors and occasional visitors.In Central Europe the black stork nests in the old trees. It is interesting to note that in forests in Bulgaria it nests almost exclusively in the rocks.Long-legged Buzzard had entered Europe from Asia Minor in the mid-twentieth century. And now its European range includes only the Balkans. So this bird is of great interest for European amateur ornithologists.

  20. Representatives of waterfowl can be observed around the hatcheries along the Lom and Ruse near Rousse.Especially attractive are the Egyptian Vulture, Long-legged Buzzard and a small spotted eagle nesting here. Furthermore, they may be seen different types of falcons, hawks, eaglesAnother interesting subject are nocturnal birds of prey, including the owl,which is the greatest wealth. In spring and summer period migratory species dwell here. Even eary forest owl, Tawny Owl and others may occur . Rare in Europe, but occurring frequently around Lomovete are attractive birds like Roller (blue crow), bee-eater and hoopoe.

  21. From all 92 species of mammals living in Bulgaria, here are found 66 species. Among them are 25 protected bats, of which about 20 species of cave dwellers and threatened throughout Europe otter, mink and grade colorful, large hamster and others. The park is a natural breeding ground for deer and red deer, wild pigs. Wolves, jackals, foxes and other predators live here.
