    1. Understanding the Communist Theory of Karl Marx Objective: Explain how communism worked and how Russia had a Communist Revolution.

    2. Quickwrite What was it like to be a worker in the Industrial Revolution? Bad utilities (no running water, no electricity) Kids did not get an education Very low pay Bad working conditions Too many people living in small spaces Child labor (coal mines) Kids beaten if they were late or did something wrong Kids had their food taken by supervisors Streets dark and full of diseases

    3. The Rules DO NOT EAT YOUR CANDY! Two opponents face off at one time. The winner takes one starburst from the loser. You may compete as long as you have at least one starburst. When you lose all your candy, return to your seat. When at your seat, answer the questions on the next slide. Label these notes Communist Theory of Karl Marx Questions

    4. Debriefing How did you feel at the start of the game? How did you feel when you ran out of candy and had to quit the game? What could you have done to get back into the game? Why didnt you do this? Do you think this game was fair? Why or why not? Now that the game is over, what action could Mr. W take, if any, to make the game fair? Should he do this? Why or why not?

    5. Result of Socialism People would learn to try to be equal instead of try for money. Eventually, the need for government itself would go away b/c people would live by sharing their resources. Final goal of the workers revolution = communism (a system with no social classes without any government) Anarchy?
