  3. excellent v cc v • This word has the VCCV, or vowel - consonant -consonant – vowel, syllable pattern. • When we have a word with the VCCV pattern we divide the word into syllables between the two consonants. ex/cel/lent

  4. summary v c c v • Does this word have a vccv pattern? • Where would you divide this word into syllables? How many syllables are in this word? sum/ma/ry

  5. babble v c c le • Does this word have the vccv pattern? What did we learn last week about what to do when we had a consonant and /le/? • How many syllables are in this word? Where do we divide this word? Turn and tell your partner. bab /ble

  6. Try these. Where are the syllable breaks? Look for the VCCV pattern.
