  1. Mid-Willamette Online Education Program offers a variety of electives. These offerings will continue to expand so keep checking in.

  2. Choices, choices, choices. Click on the class to open its curriculum. Novels: A great class for those who love to read. There are currently a total of twelve qualifying novels. Keep looking for new additions. Keyboarding: This class teaches correct keyboarding skills and encourages faster techniques. It is an intensive 50-60 hour course with timed drills. Computer Technology : A Novel Star computer technology introduction class. Social Issues: This Novel Star course is designed to help students understand current issues and provides a forum to share personal opinions about controversial topics often seen or heard about in the news.
  3. Elective choices continued… Art History:Etruscan , Roman and High Renaissance Art are the areas of focus in this class. There are required supplementary exercises found at the end of each lesson that will be factored into your grade. This Novel Stars Course will allow the learning about art itself as well as the political and social events influencing it. Career Explorations:This Novel Star course explores your interests, talents, achievements, and goals. Investigate 13 career clusters and the three career pathways, and match your talents, interests, and goals to various career options. You will use a number of employment resources both in print and on the internet. You will practice valuable life and career skills, including resume-writing, interview techniques, budgeting, time-management, and long-term planning.
  4. Elective choices continued… Spanish 1 A, B and 2 A,B: Learn Spanish for simple situations in Spanish One and studying the Spanish Language in Spanish 2. African American Studies: Trace the experiences of Africans in the Americas from 1500 AD to today. Business/Consumer Math A and B: This course is designed to teach students the necessary skills to understand the everyday math necessary for daily living.
  5. Elective choices continued… Native America Studies: This course enriches the knowledge and understanding from a Native American perspective. We confront false images, stereotypes, inaccurate myths and distortions. Designed for both Native American and non-Native American s, a better understanding of human similarities and differences recognize the contributions that Native American people and cultures have made to the world. Writing Portfolio: The course focuses on experimenting and discovering new ways of writing creatively. Students will practice daily writing exercises, narrative writing, imaginative writing. Description and figurative and literary devices will support growth in individual writing communicating emotions, attitudes, and impressions through language. Structure of Writing: Fundamentals of grammar and usage to strengthen writing skills are the main focus of this novel star class. Journal assignments and expository and narrative writing are required.
  6. Elective choices continued… You create the elective:Offered on a pre- approval basis. Students who are participating or plan on participating in a formal activity which is supervised by a certified supervisor or instructor, may request approval for elective credit. Ideas: Quilting class Red Cross CPR/FIRST AID class Food Handler’s Card Driver’s Permit CNA Certification Private music lessons Painting class All elective classes will require a minimum of 65 hours of class time/activity time and teacher assigned written projects.
