  1. Catch a CAT... with a Bike!

  2. Catching a CAT with a Bike • 3 easy steps get you and your bicycle on the bus and on your way. • Look • Load • Lock

  3. LOOK Make eye contact with the operator at the bus stop and indicate that you have a bike you’ll be loading. • The operator may not know you want to catch the bus if you are still riding your bike, so be ready at the bus stop before the bus is scheduled to arrive. You can then use this time to remove any loose items such as water bottles from your bike.

  4. LOAD Following the simple instructions, pull down the bike rack towards you. • Remember to be careful: your bike is valuable, and so are your fingers.

  5. Carefully lift your bike into the rack, front wheel first. LOAD • When both slots are empty, use the slot closest to the bus first.

  6. LOCK Secure the hook over your bike’s front tire, and you’re done! • Make sure the hook locks into place, but do not lock your bike to the rack.

  7. Now you can board the bus, pay only the regular fare (there’s no extra charge for having a bike), and enjoy the ride. • When you reach your stop, remember to tell the operator you need to retrieve your bike, and have a great day!

  8. Helpful Tips • You can Catch a CAT with your bike from any bus stop. • Remove any loose items from your bike before the bus arrives. • Communicate with the operator before stepping in front of the bus. • Unfold the rack, then place your bike—front wheel first—into the wheel slot. • When both slots are empty, use the slot closest to the bus first. • Pull out the support arm in front of your bike and bring it over your front tire. Make sure everything is secure, but do not lock your bike to the rack. • Board the bus and enjoy the ride. No extra fare is required for bikes. • Keep an eye out for other riders using the bike rack—you may need to get out and move your bike so they can access theirs. • Before getting off at your stop, tell the operator you have a bike to retrieve. • Unhook the support arm, fold it down, and remove your bike. • If there are no other bikes on the rack, please fold up and secure the rack. • Return to the curb and wait for the bus to pull away before crossing the street. Thank you for Catching a CAT!
