Title: Preserving and Sharing Local Information Resources through Information Technology Kiosk (WARINTEK) Background of RISTEK: • Coordinates as well as facilitates local information obtained from Non-Government Agencies under RISTEK coordination • Coordinates all WARINTEK that have been set up in all provinces of Indonesia • Coordinate development of local information through utilization of network • Conducts and carries out socialization, distribution and implementation of content information and appropriate technology to public

Description Produces CDs containing: • Appropriate technology : 3000 entries • Traditional Medicine and Food Diversification : 2000 entries • Indigenous Knowledge: 700 entries • Warintek Database compiled from 5 Warinteks: Tourism, Local Education, History, traditional custom, museums Develop Warintek Server: Warintek Portal (ongoing) Translates (bibliography) some local information into English (ongoing)

Initiatives/Preservation Program Undertaken • Development of Warintek portal • Training of trainers • National Seminar/Workshop on Warintek • Information dissemination • Policy: information content, repository and information sharing, creative digital, data security • Building cooperation with government and private

  6. Conclusion and Recommendation • All databases compiled from Warinteks that contain natural heritage, historical heritage, cultural heritage and traditional custom can be accessed by all members of Local Information in Southeast Asia • Further discussion among members of Local Information Networks of Southeast Asia • In future, we expect that all local information in 33 provinces of Indonesia have been packaged into digital format.
