  2. Purpose • Opportunity to invest in the equity markets • Practical experience investing, with real money • Gain communication and presentation skills • Think critically and evaluate the potential investment options • Learn how to make money!!! • Have Fun… this is not a lecture

  3. Logistics • Meet once a month • 1st Investing Meeting – Oct. 31, 2002 • 2nd Investing Meeting – Nov. 27, 2002 • Four Additional Meetings in the Winter Semester

  4. Logistics (continued) • Investing Meeting Outline • Review last month’s stock (performance, major news, explanations) • Vote on sell or hold last month’s stock • If sell, vote to purchase new stock

  5. Analysts • Analyst Teams • 1 Senior Analyst pairs with a Junior Analyst • May cover any sector, industry of your choice • Present to members your stock • Rationale supported with technical or fundamental analysis; field questions • Applications for analyst positions will be made available on October 31st (1st Investing Meeting)

  6. Number of votes you have depends on much money you have invested Must invest at least $50 = 1 vote Additional $50 increment is another vote No one member may hold more than 25% of the votes Any buy, hold or sell decision must be supported by a majority vote at an investing meeting Voting

  7. Portfolio • Current Value updated on the website regularly • http://yic.schulich.yorku.ca/ • Very important to read YIC e-mails and check the website often • Upcoming events, news and club information are all on the website

  8. In April, 2003 • Money will be returned to all investing members +/- any capital gains/losses • A 10% stop loss is placed on every trade to limit excessive losses • Members may vote to not have stop loss in volatile securities
