  32. How should I train this summer? • Every athlete will be put on a running plan & Unit for the summer • Plan is based on how many years they have been running, history of injuries, and their goals that the put in their commitment paper • Those plans will be given out at Unit meeting in may, or for new athletes at New athlete party.

  33. What do I between now and June 4th? • New athletes who have not done much running or returning athletes who have not been running over the last few months. They will want to do the Nebula plan • Athletes who are running track should take 2 weeks of structured running and do the plan in the packet. • Over the 2 weeks please stay active • Coach Weck and I will meet with all units • In May and go over your training plan

  34. Injuries/Shoe night/ iron testing • Good running shoes are critical to staying healthy • We will be having a shoe night at Runners Plus that you can get great shoes at a discount • Iron test I strongly recommend for any female who will be training at a varsity level or over 30 miles a week • Please read info in packet • When you go for physical ask for Iron/ferritin test as part of physical. Normal for an endurance athlete is not normal for typical teen. I would like your score in the 70’s

  35. Any questions before my final story?

  36. Grant F, Emma,Joe C story

  37. To the Returning athlete • ARE YOU THE ONE? • Why don’t most athletes train with 100% effort? • YOU MUST BELIEVE IT IS POSSIBLE • What if I don’t achieve my goals? • You will not regret training hard this summer/fall • But you will regret at the end of the season if you don’t.

  38. New athletes • My big challenge for you is to come to the new athlete party on June 3rd • I hope all of you are as excited as I am for you to be part of our family • Don’t leave this meeting with a shirt and I never see you again • Can all of the new athletes come up on stage • Picture time • I will stay and answer questions
