Trustworthiness: Point of View Write down a few thoughts for each question below, and then choose one for which you will fully express your point of view: Often the personal character of public figures helps reveal why they made certain decisions throughout their life. Discuss the relationship between personal trustworthiness and the public life of individuals. Is personal character important in the realm of politics and public life? Why or why not? The science community relies on trust. Scientists must be people of integrity as they gather data for their work. However, scientists may be tempted to alter or modify their data – resulting in inaccurate conclusions. What might tempt a scientist to be dishonest? What consequences could result if a scientist is not trustworthy? It is important not only to have a specific set of values that we strive to consciously live by, but also to articulate (speak about) those values to others in a clear, concise and thoughtful way. Explain how important it is to be trustworthy.
