Two Great Empires Babylonia Assyria Nineveh – Capital of Assyria and a great city of learning Decided the best way to protect the empire was to be the first to attack Built a huge library full of clay tablets Important King – Sargon II Invented the battering ram • Babylon – Capital of Babylonia and a very wealthy city, it was making money because it was a large trading center • Created roads that made it easy to travel, communicate and trade • Great warriors • Important King - Hammurabi

  4. Destruction Babylonia Assyria Conquered in 612 B.C. by two groups of people who no longer wanted to be ruled by the Assyrian king. • Destroyed in 1600 B.C. for its wealth and location
