  2. Were there no God, we would be in this glorious world with grateful hearts and no one to thank.

  4. You can never cross the ocean unless you have the courage to lose sight of the shore.

  5. The sea hath no king but God alone.

  6. We are tied to the ocean. And when we go back to the sea, whether it is to sail or to watch - we are going back from whence we came.

  7. What we are is God's gift to us.  What we become is our gift to God.

  8. The longer the island of knowledge, then longer the shoreline of wonder”

  10. I love to think of nature as an unlimited broadcasting station, through which God speaks to us every hour, if we will only tune in.

  11. Sit in reverie and watch the changing color of the wavesthat break upon the idle seashore of the mind.

  12. The true peace of God begins at any spot a thousand miles from the nearest land.

  13. The poetry of the earth is never dead.

  26. In nature we see where God has been.  In our fellow man, we see where He is still at work. 

  27. Which of us has not been stunned by the beauty of a Porpoise or its flexibility in motion?

Instead of a bottom-line based on money and power, we need a new bottom-line that defines productivity and creativity as where corporations, governments, schools, public institutions, and social practices are judged as efficient, rational and productive not only to the extent they maximize money and power, but to the extent they maximize love and caring, ethical and ecological sensitivity, and our capacities to respond with awe and wonder at the grandeur of creation.

  29. The human spirit needs places where nature has not been rearranged by the hand of man.

  30. I am comforted by life's stability, by earth's unchangeableness. What has seemed new and frightening assumes its place in the unfolding of knowledge. It is good to know our universe. What is new is only new to us.

  31. When you're finally up at the moon looking back on earth, all those differences and nationalistic traits are pretty well going to blend, and you're going to get a concept that maybe this really is one world and why the hell can't we learn to live together like decent people.

  32. In every man's heart there is a secret nerve that answers to the vibrations of beauty. 

  33. A setting sun still whispers a promise for tomorrow. 

  34. We learned a lot about the Moon, but what we really learned was about the Earth. The fact that just from the distance of the Moon you can put your thumb up and you can hide the Earth behind your thumb. Everything that you've ever known, your loved ones, your business, the problems of the Earth itself—all behind your thumb. And how insignificant we really all are, but then how fortunate we are to have this body and to be able to enjoy loving here amongst the beauty of the Earth itself.

  44. God and Nature first made us what we are, and then out of our own created genius we make ourselves what we want to be. Follow always that great law. Let the sky and God be our limit and Eternity our measurement.
