  1. Essential Dental Care Tips For Young Children

  2. Dental Care Tips for Young Children • Toddlers can easily be the silliest, most stubborn, but still, the most lovable beings there are. They're not shy to express their defiance on things that they don't like. And for some parents, that includes brushing their teeth.  • It's natural for children to respond differently to dental care, so don't compare them with their peers. • They need your support and guidance, above all, even if they tend to keep testing your patience. Hang in there and keep trying. You’re doing great.

  3. Here are some Essential Dental Care Tips For Young Children:

  4. Start Early • Did you know babies are born with all their teeth? But you don't see them as they're yet to break through the gums. Even if their teeth aren't visible yet, it's important to get started on dental care habits already. • Wipe their gums with a damp, clean washcloth to remove residue after every feeding. This is especially the case once they start eating solids. • Once their teeth start to erupt, you may start using an age-appropriate brush to clean their teeth. The earlier they're introduced to dental care, chances are the easier it also is to make them feel comfortable with it.

  5. Supervise Your Child's Brushing • Once your child has all their primary teeth, the more you need to pay attention to their brushing habits. • If they can't spit yet, choose a safe-to-swallow toothpaste, and use only a pea-sized amount for them. • If they insist on holding their brush, let them. But do check their teeth afterward. You can brush together so you can show them the proper way to clean their mouth.

  6. Avoid Early Tooth Decay • Also called baby bottle tooth decay, tooth decay among very young children often happens due to sugary liquids lingering long in their mouth. • Don't let your child sleep with their bottle or sippy cup on. Minimize their intake of sweetened juices or beverages. • Instead, give them more water once it's already safe for them to drink it, and switch to actual fresh fruits or drinks instead of buying processed goods.

  7. Take Them To The Dentist • Don't forget to take your child to the dental office by their first birthday, or as soon as their teeth erupt. Help them build positive relationships with the dental team. • Let them meet with the dentist, hygienist, and the rest of the staff. And don't associate dental visits with negative stories. • If you have dental fears or anxieties, yourself, seek professional advice, so you don't inadvertently pass them on to your child.
