  27. Homework 9/11/14 Study for tomorrow’s QUIZ! Matter: Mass and Volume

  28. Measuring Mass What are the units Grams (g) For mass? Kilograms (kg) What tool is used for measuring mass? Triple Beam Balance

  29. Make sure all 3 sliders are placed at the left. Place object on the pan (or tray). Move the 100g slider to the right until indicator moves below the line. Then move the slider back to the left 1 notch. Now move the 10g slider over until the indicator moves below the line. Then move the slider back to left 1 notch. Now slide the 1g slider over until the indicator is balanced with the line. Once you have balanced the scale, you add up the amounts on each beam to find the total mass. What would be the mass of the object measured in the picture? _______ + ______ + _______ = ________ g Measuring Mass

  30. Measuring Mass • Gizmo: Complete PKQ #1-2 first

  31. Ms. Weber - Where do I go? Computers: Davion, Derek, Argelia, Lycia, Khijon Laptop: Zemberiah, Dykota SmartBoard: Ruben, Joseph, Akeyal, Tevin, Antonio, Jaia Read your Gizmo handout! Raise your hand for help only after you have read the handout and tried to problem solve. Ms. Weber – What do I do?

  32. Bellwork9/12/14 Two Oranges: One is peeled. One is not peeled I drop them in a tub of water. Do they sink or float?

  33. Objective 9/11/14 SWBAT describe the relationship of mass and volume to density.
