Bell Work • Make sure you picked up one of each handout on the front table. • On your own, read and annotate “3-Story House” • Underline or highlight important parts, put a question make next to parts you don’t understand or have questions about • At the bottom of the poem (or on the back), write a brief summary of the poem AND what you think it means. English 3-4 Wed., Sept. 17 • Bell Work • Pick up a blue textbook • Write complete sentences using the following vocab words: ANNIHILATE, EXPENDABLE, and INFINITESIMALLY • Look up the denotation of the word “correlate,” then use it in a sentence. AGENDA: • Use vocab words in sentences • Define “correlate” • Finish listening to “A Sound of Thunder”

  7. AVID Wednesday, Sept. 17 Bell Work Please make sure you grabbed handouts from the front table! Write 3 questions (one of each level) about something you are learning in one of your classes. Make sure you are using the appropriate terms from yesterday’s COSTA’S LEVELS OF QUESTIONING handout. Be prepared to share them with the class! AGENDA: • Bell Work: Creating Questions • Share out • Learning Logs • Binder Check on Friday • Homework

  8. English 3-4 Thurs., Sept. 18 • Bell Work • Pick up a blue textbook • If you haven’t already, make sure you have definitions written down for all 15 vocab words. Remember—first vocab quiz tomorrow. AGENDA: • Finish “A Sound of Thunder” • Complete ASOT handout questions with group • Alternate ending assignment • FRIDAY: VOCAB QUIZ

English 1-2 Thurs., Sept. 18 • Bell Work • Pick up an orange textbook • Write 3-4 sentences responding to the following prompt: • On pg. 48, Zaroff says, “Instinct is no match for reason.” What do you think is a more valuable attribute (trait or characteristic)—instinct or reason? Why? AGENDA: • Bell work • Listen to audio of TMDG • Fill in Plot Diagram and vocab definitions

  10. AVID Thursday, Sept. 18 8-10 minute writing response What are some valuable things you’ve learned or experienced so far this year? Think about the following categories: academics, sports, social life, home life, responsibility and organization. Remember…not all learning experiences are enjoyable! What else do you hope to learn or experience this year? Give reasons why. AGENDA: • Bell Work: writing response • Share out • Learning Logs • Binder Check on Friday

  11. English 3-4 Fri., Sept. 19 Bell Work Clear your desk of everything but something to write with AND something to cover your answers with, if you wish. AGENDA: • Writing assignment instructions • Vocab Quiz • Work on alternate ending / sequel writing assignment, DUE MONDAY

English 1-2 Fri., Sept. 19 • Bell Work • Please clear your table area of everything but a half-sheet of paper and something to write with. • Be prepared to listen to our Student Librarian Mr. Coker (just kidding, you’re listening to Ms. McAllister!) and to jot down a few notes as he speaks. AGENDA: • Listen to Mr. Coker’s presentation • Go to the library and work on assignment • REMINDER: Vocab quiz Monday!

  13. AVID Friday, Sept. 19 Please have your binders and your binder-check rubrics in front of you. When you are sitting quietly with your supplies, I will know you are ready to quickly go outside for our group photo. AGENDA: • Group photo • Binder checks • Getting to Know You Game
