  2. Country Programme (2005-2008) • $33 million in 2008 (at the moment over $27mln. delivered)

Country Programme (2005-2008) • Growth driven by: • UNDP TJK is a principal recipient of GFATM (around $15 mln. in 2007-2008) • Large procurement projects (BOMCA, BOMBAF) • Pro-actively seeking funding (around 20 project proposals were developed in 2008) • Increased core-funding (TRAC I and TRAC II from $3 mln in 2007 to $5 mln in 2008)

Outreach and Breadth of UNDP • By now UNDP is present in all regions of Tajikistan, as the only development agency with a strong programme in all major spheres and regions of the country; • New programmes for regional development in Zarafshan and Ferghana areas in the North, malaria eradication and poverty reduction in the South, and a large TB programme; • EU‑funded Border Management Projects in the East of the country.

Fundraising 2005-2008 • UNDP fundraising status in four years • $ 15.1 million in 2005 • $ 21.2 million in 2006 • $ 26.5 million in 2007 • by now $ 17 million achieved and around $ 10 million expected from GFATM in 2008 • Fundraising for soft pipeline projects increased in 2008 by 52% in comparison with 2007

  10. Challenges • Capacity building of UNDP Tajikistan staff involved in procurement process; • Banking services in Tajikistan are under-developed; • High turnover of national staff; • Lack of suppliers of specific goods and services within the country.

  11. Fundraising perspectives • The CO is in constant contact with the donors on ways of improving the programme to ensure further funding; • Facilitation of the fundraising efforts and overall collaboration with EU at the level of HQ and UNDP/Brussels; • Continuation of partnerships with donors’ agencies from Scandinavian countries, HSTF, emerging and non-traditional donors.
