What are the Factors Determines the Cost of Tuition Fees in Singapore

Students can continue through the tertiary component of their educational path after high school. They will have several routes to choose from at this stage. For the sake of brevity, in this article we have chosen to limit coverage to junior college students as they most commonly engage History tuition in Singapore out of their education group.

  1. What are the Factors Determines the Cost of Tuition Fees in Singapore In Singapore, tuition is officially a trillion dollar industry. Singapore households spent $1.4 billion SGD on tuition between October 2017 and September 2018 (CNA, 2019), according to the Singapore Department of Statistics '2019 Household Expenditure Survey (SDS). Over the years the tuition industry's value has gradually grown from $650 million a decade ago. Parents Understand the Value of Tuition The average household tuition expenditure was $88.40 SGD per month. Having risen from $79.90 SGD per month in AY2012/13, this was a new record high expenditure. While some of the rise can be attributed to inflation, social factors have played a role in this as well. Despite recent Ministry of Education educational reforms aimed at raising the emphasis on academic grades, parents are still aware of the value of academic grades. For many today, tuition still serves as insurance for the educational path of their child. In fact, parents also believe their child would have less competitive advantages toward their peers. The number of tuition centers is on the rise The number of tuition and enrichment centers has risen in parallel with the growth in industry spending. The number stood at 700 in 2012, while the survey showed more than 950 such centers had been officially registered. In addition, Historytuition generally ranges widely from part-time tutors to full-time teaching center staff, from small neighborhood-based centers to branded enrichment centers. Branded Tuition Centers Are in Demand Another clear finding from the study is that higher-income families spend as much as four times more on tuition than the under-20 percent families. The production of branded tuition centers and their household-name tutors has fueled this. Parents 'assumption is that these top enrichment centers have a advantage over other alternatives to tuition.

  2. Tuition should be affordable Now history tutors come from all walks of life as described briefly above. They could be part- time tutors of students searching for extra pocket money, ex-NIE teachers now running their own private tuition sessions, skilled tutors from small neighborhood tuition centers, or branded enrichment center star tutors. Each tutor group will charge very varying rates. In addition, depending on the level of the student – pre-school, primary, secondary or junior college, tuition fees differ based on the nature of the subjects taught. To give parents a guide on tuition costs in Singapore, we presented an overview of rates paid at various levels. For more detail please read on. Pre-scholars 'tuition covers the time from nursery to kindergarten 2, with a topic pool including English, mother tongue and math. Tuition fees at that point vary from $60-$240 a month (4 lessons x 1.5 hours). Primary school tuition Singapore classes (primary 1 to 6 students) cover a subject pool which includes English, Mother tongue, Math and Science. Around this point, there is the greatest cost disparity between home tutors and History tuition centers. Tuition centers also charge less than private tutors, because they reap economies of scale by being able to educate more students at once. Tuition costs are usually from $80-$350 a month (4 lessons x 1.5h). Tuition for Secondary Students Lower and upper secondary students take up substantially different subjects; thus, the rate of tuition varies more than at previous levels. Schools usually offer 8 or more secondary 1 & 2 subjects like English, mother tongue, science, math, accounting theory, geography, history, and literature. As students reach upper secondary, they'll have to pick their mix of subjects. This includes the number of subjects they are interested in, and the specific topics. The topics of math include basic mathematics and additional mathematics while the topics of science include astronomy, physics, chemistry and biology.

  3. In addition, the school can offer subjects focused on humanities such as combined humanities, art, literature, geography, history, and social sciences. History Tuition fees for secondary education vary from $100-$600 a month (4 lessons x 1.5h). Students can continue through the tertiary component of their educational path after high school. They will have several routes to choose from at this stage. For the sake of brevity, in this article we have chosen to limit coverage to junior college students as they most commonly engage History tuition in Singapore out of their education group.
