Les impératifs(commands) • Levez-vous!—Stand up! • Asseyez-vous!—Sit down! • Levez la main (gauche, droite)!—Raise your hand (right, left)! • Allez (au tableau, à la porte)!—Go (to the board, to the door)! • Prenez (un crayon, un stylo, unefeuille de papier, un feutre)!—Get out/pick up (a pencil, a pen, a piece of paper, a marker)! • Écrivez (votre nom, bonjour)!—Write (your name, bonjour)! • Montrez (à la classe)!—Show (to the class)! • Retournez à votre place!—Go back to your seat!

Les accents (accent marks) • accent aigu (é): found only on an “e”; makes it sound like “ay” • accent grave (è): found on “a”, “e”, or “u”; doesn’t really change pronunciation but can change meaning • cédille (ç): found on a “c”: makes it sound like “ess” • accent circonflexe (ô): found on all vowels; doesn’t change the pronunciation • tréma (ï): found on all vowels; separates two vowels into two syllables
