  3. Safety First • Listen and follow all instructions - don’t jump ahead! • Don’t eat or drink anything or put any kit in your mouth. • Tell an adult if you think something is wrong. Reaction Lab

  4. What You Need 1 x Beaker 1 x Conical Flask 1 x Funnel 5 x Plastic Cups 1 x Pipette 1 x Spatula 1 x Tray 1 x Cotton Wool Ball Reaction Lab

  5. Part 1 - Extraction Place the flask in the tray, the funnel in the flask and the cotton wool in the funnel. Place 3 spoonfuls of cabbage into the beaker. Add water to the 100ml mark and stir. Pour the contents of the beaker into the funnel. Reaction Lab

  6. Part 2 - Identification Select a clear liquid. Place a 6ml sample of the liquid into a plastic cup. At your table, add a 3ml of anthocyanin. If it turns a colour you already have, rinse out the cup. Try sampling and testing different liquids. Reaction Lab

  7. Watch Out! If you use the same pipette in different liquids, you might mix the chemicals up. This is called cross contamination and will lead to confusing results. If you need to rinse out a cup, make sure you use plenty of clean water. Don’t mix any of the chemicals together! Reaction Lab
