  1. @TheLessonsGuy 9 Effective ways to express Gratitude towards your Parents

  2. Many of us are busy and are struggling to balance different priorities in our life. It would seem like we don’t have enough time even to call our parents. But remember, when your parents were younger, they too would have been busy, and yet they had you and spend time and effort on your care and development. Even if we are far away, we can easily do little things to make them understand you are always there for them. Here are a few practical ways to give your care and attention to your parents without effecting your busy schedules.

  3. 1) Quick Connect Make sure you connect with your parents frequently, make it a ritual by combining your break time or travel time. Technology has enabled us to make video calls easily, use the most of it to break the concept of “Out of sight, out of mind.” Share your daily news, talk about the people you interact with on a day to day basis. Don’t make your parents check social media to get updates about you. 2) Keep them Engaged: Age plays an important role in one’s mental health. Encourage your parents to join social groups and to engage themselves based on their interests. In our local Toastmasters club, there is a mother who joined because her son asked her. Now she is thoroughly enjoying her newfound passion.

  4. 3) Value and Respect When there are important events in your life, discuss it with your parents, and seek their opinion. This act alone gives your parents the feeling that they are valued. Respect their beliefs and thoughts, and don’t laugh at their mistakes. Remember, they did not have easy access to information at their fingertips as you do now As we grow older, our tolerance levels come down, but we need to be patient and cautious with our parents. One day you will get older too at that time, your kids will do the same thing they learned from how you treated your parents.

  5. 4) Show your gratitude Whenever you succeed in life, remember your parents have played an essential role in developing your skills. One way to show your gratitude is by giving them credit and sharing your accomplishments. Let them be proud of raising you to be a successful individual. 5) Hire Caregiver In your busy life, you may not be able to visit your parents regularly. If your parents need assistance, hire caregivers to help them. Remember, you are still their child and caregivers can never be your replacement.

  6. 6) Visit your parents Make sure you visit your parents on a regular bases or at least on special occasions. Spend time with your family and create memories of joy and laughter. It can be as simple as watching a TV show together or having dinner. On the expensive side, you and your family could go on trips with your parents. 7) Make them feel at home Even though you are their child, the rules of your home will be different from your parents’ house. When your parents visit you or stay with you, respect their space, behavior, and interest. Make the environment cordial and stress-free for your parents.

  7. 8) Technological Support Your parents might not be as tech-savvy as you are, so teach them the basics. Help them to understand the do and don’ts in each platform This will help them to be more independent 9) Health Make sure your parents have proper medical insurance and explain the process to avail it in case of any emergencies. This will give them better confidence in crises. Remind them about regular health checkups and be aware of their conditions.

  8. Conclusion You are your parent’s priority, and it is your responsibility to pay them back. Eventually, you will take up that position, and when that time comes, you will reap the results of what you have sowed in your kid’s mind. Express your gratitude towards your parents before it is too late. Thank You!!
