Birds Fish Vertebrates Amphibians Have moist skin with no scales; most begin life in water but live on land as adults Mammals Reptiles Have dry and scalyskin Have hair & produce milk for their young **Examples: Lizards, snakes, &turtles **Examples: Cats, dogs, humans **Examples: Frogs, toads, newts

  5. Most vertebrates have sharp senses & large brains. These help them survive in their surroundings.

  6. Invertebrates **Examples: snail, crab, beetle Animals without backbone

  8. Arthropods • invertebrates with legs that have several joints, • their bodies have 2 or more parts • sometimes have shells to protect them **Examples: beetles, bees crabs, lobster, grasshopper, spiders

  9. Mollusk invertebrates that may or may not have a hard outer shell **Examples: snail, sea sponge, clams
