  4. Henderson County, NC • Population 108,266 (2012 Census) • 65 years and older = 22.8% compared to 13.2% in NC • 18 and under = 20.3% compared to 23.7% in NC August 10, 2014

Recognizing the need for younger directors • From NC Center for Nonprofits blog, May 15, 2013 • 43% of board members are between 50 and 64 years of age • Only 2% are under 30 years old • Baby Boomers retirement rate: 30,000 per day - to continue through 2031 • Feedback from agency directors: we need well-trained, community-minded younger professionals in the boardroom August 10, 2014
