  2. The National Flag is the horizontal tricolor of deep saffron (kesaria) at the top, white in the middle, and dark green at the bottom in equal proportion. At the center of the white band is a navy blue wheel, which is a representation of the Ashoka Chakra at Sarnath.

  3. INDIA : Some Interesting Facts India - world's largest, oldest, continuous civilization. India -world's Largest democracy. India invented number system. Zero - invented by Aryabhatta. Algebra, Trigonometry and Calculus - originated in India. Sanskrit -mother of all European Languages . India -largest English speaking nation in world. Yoga -origins in India ,has existed for over 5,000 years. Ayurveda -earliest school of medicine known to mankind. Father of Medicine, Charaka, consolidated Ayurveda 2500 years ago. India - second largest pool of Scientist and Engineers in World. India exports software to 90 countries. National Emblem of India is derived from the time of the Emperor Ashoka. emblem is a replica of the Lion of Sarnath, near Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh. Lion Capital was erected in the third century BC by Emperor Ashoka to mark the spot where Buddha first proclaimed his gospel of peace and emancipation to the four quarters of the universe.

There is an FRO in Pune with Registration, Extensions, Return visas, and processing of exit permission. Banyan Tree is the National Tree of India.   27. Pune City • Pune-the cultural capital of Maharashtra and has maintained a fine balance between modernity and an age old culture and tradition. Pune is the eighth largest metropolis in India and the second largest city in Maharashtra after Mumbai. The city boasts of a forty percent green cover and has a tropical wet and dry climate with average temperatures ranging between 20 to 35 oC. • Pune district forms a part of the tropical monsoon land hence, shows a significant seasonal variation in temperature as well as, rainfall conditions. Climate of the western region of Pune is cool whereas the eastern part is hot and dry. • Pune is well known as the 'Queen of Deccan', due to its scenic beauty and rich natural resources. Besides, it is famous for its religious and historical places. Pune city is known on the world map because of its educational, research and development institutions. The district also bears significance as an important military base. Pune is the most industrialized district in Western Maharashtra and a famous IT hub in the country. • Pune is home to a giant student community and the city imparts education at basic, special, university and research levels. Education and job opportunities attract migrants and students to Pune and make it a mosaic of many cultures and communities.

  28. Do's & Don'ts while in India and in Pune • No dress restriction observed in Pune. Always consider the weather conditions before choosing a dress. • Local travel by rickshaws . Pay by meter as per the amount on the tariff card. • Do not accept lifts from strangers. • To dive yourself - you need a temporary and later a permanent driving license issued by the R.T.O. Pune. • Always wear a helmet. • In India we have the left-hand drive. Always get to the left side of the road when you want to turn. • To cross a road, look left-right-left and then cross. • Keep an identity card with you always with the details of your blood group, your name, address, phone number, phone numbers of your friends or guardians who can be contacted in an emergency. • Keep photocopies of documents like your passport, visa, ID card with you. • If you have rented a house keep the receipts of the rental payments. • Obtain receipts for anything you’ve spent money on. • Wi-Fi connection from any of the service providers. • For foreign currency exchange go to agencies like Thomas Cook, etc. Money changers are also available with some luxury hotels and shops at Pune. • Never carry too much cash while traveling and take care of your belongings. • Take care of your health, eat well to avoid sickness. • Go to good and clean restaurants and buy packaged drinking water. • Drink boiled water
