  2. What You Need to Know:The Basics • You’ll write this essay in Blackboard, as you did with Essay Three; • You’ll have a choice of three topics; • You’ll have a time limit of three hours • Once you open the assignment, you CANNOT save and finish it later.

Grading Criteria: Your Essay Must Contain the Following: • A title that reflects the thesis and attempts to capture the reader’s attention; • A three-part introduction that contains a lead-in, a transition, and a previewing thesis; • The introduction should be between one-half and three-quarters of a page long

  4. Grading Criteria: Your Essay Must Contain the Following: • One body paragraph for each point mentioned in the previewing thesis; • Each body paragraph must contain the following: • A topic sentence that echoes a point from the thesis; • Three to four sentences that explain the topic sentence; • An illustrating example that shows the truth of the topic sentence; • A one to two sentence warrant that explains the point of the example; • A three-part concluding paragraph.

What I Look for in Grading the Final: • Organization and clarity • Thesis sentence and topic sentences • Interest • Introductory lead-in and body paragraph examples • Logic • Transition in the intro, explanation of topic sentence in body paragraphs, and warrant in body paragraphs and conclusion; • Correctness • A grammatically clean, proofread final copy

Final Thoughts • Spend the allotted time on the paper; don’t crash it out; • Remember that once you open the assignment, you have to finish it then; • You have to write the final exam on or before Wednesday, December 12 • You must have submitted Essay Five and gotten the password from me to access the final exam; • Please proofread your essay before you turn it in.

To Be on the Safe Side • When you’re ready to write your final exam, • Open a word file, • Then open the assignment to find out the topic; • Compose the essay in the word file while the Blackboard assignment is open and the clock is ticking. • Once you’re finished with the essay, then save it to your computer and copy and paste it into Blackboard • Then hit “submit”
