Introduction • Education system – 3 problems- cope with effects of Apartheid- anti-apartheid slogan: ‚freedom now, education later‘ - today =>new culture of teaching- social factors: e.g. HIV/AIDS • South Africa - signed International Human Rights conventions on the Rights of Child- constitution: protect children‘s rights- reality: a new ‚lost generation‘ due to diseases and its related impacts - 6,5 million people HIV infected => enormous social problems

  8. Introduction • Adverse situation for children and youth-with parents sick/dying => children care for siblings/family members-many infected themselves with the virus • Children‘s rights to eduaction/social services => reduced
